The military
family background made her tough and disciplined and she was
focused to find her entry point into the military which was in
her dream for a long time. But future had different things in
store for her and her life took a hard turn and there she was
competing in the Miss India contest and she won it in style. But
in the Miss Universe pageant 2001, she had to satisfy her miss
universe crown dreams with only a forth runner up position, she
was happy and she later told in an interview that the contest
greatly increased her confidence as a beautiful young girl. A
fourth runner up in the miss universe and a Miss India crown
holder, obviously her path to the great Bollywood was all open.
After her winning performance in the Miss India pageant in 2001,
she had to wait two more years until she finally made her
Bollywood debut in the 2003 movie ‘Khel’. She signed one more
film in the same year called ‘Janasheen’. It didn't take very
long before people started noticing her. She stunned everybody
with her beauty and agility.
She made some controversial comments about the kind of treatment
she received from the Puerto Rican media, the Miss Universe
contest was held in Puerto Rica and she believes that the media
in there watched her as a threat to the hometown girl and that
year’s winner Denise Quinones.
Even before her entry to bollywood she was featured in popular
medias for several times like in the Bombay Vikings' Zara Nazron
Se Kehdo’ video.
Celina is a big fan of super star Amitabh Bachchan and she also
appreciates works of Sushmita Sen, Aamir Khan and Aiswarya Rai.
She once said that it is her dream to work with these people as
they are few of the finest peoples in what they do. When asked
which character she would like to play in a remake she said “I
would like to play Meena Kumari’s role in ‘Pakeeza’, Waheeda
Rehman’s role from ‘Chaudhavi Ka Chand’ and Rekha’s role in
‘Umrao Jaan’.
In one interview she admitted that she and Fardeen Khan have a
“special chemistry” on screen and she also expressed her crave
to act against Hrithik Roshan as she believes that their pair
will look great on screen because of the height and eye-color
combinations. She also added that she rates herself eight out of
ten as an actress because she believes the she still has got to
cover a long way before she can call herself a good actress.
She is hoping to do more and more glamour roles in the current
phase of her career because she want to stay in people's mind as
a beautiful and sizzling actress forever and she adds that “I
have a lot of time in the future to de-glam myself”.
Her latest movies are ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’ and ‘Red: the dark
side’. ‘Dulha Mil gaya’, ‘Kaash Tumse Mohabbat Na Hoti’,
‘Unusual Love Story’, ‘One Night’, ‘No Entry II’ are some of her
forthcoming films.
When not acting, she spends her time surfing the internet,
listening to music, reading, sketching etc. Celina still
cherishes her childhood dream of flying and now she is saving
some serious money to join a flight club in the United Sates.
